This fly imitates the early stages of a hatching mayfly perfectly. A small bead allows the fly to penetrate the surface quickly but still maintains a realistic, slim profile. Fishing this fly off a dry allows the angler to suspend/drop the fly anywhere in the water column the fish are feeding. As with all John Barr flies, the Barr Emerger is simple and extremely effective.
